I believe in an animate world. I believe in the truth, beauty, and magic in everything I see and touch. I am sometimes hopeless. I am not sure we can save ourselves. I am not sure we should. I like to party. I like to dance. I believe deeply in laughter.
My practice is grounded in material. A vast variety of objects, mundane and unusual, often found in the home, woods, shoreline, and city streets, along with wood, clothing and other textiles, plaster casts of my own body, and animal parts, are at the center of what I do. I am excited by the memories locked in objects and matter - I want to be let in. The evidence of my touch, imperfections in surface, and connectivity between materials, forms new stories. I work intuitively, often letting forms make themselves clear and be brought into being. Mutability of flesh and the impermanence of the body and environment are expressed through transformative practices and use of non-archival material. The things I make are awkward and precarious. I am trying to find my way through a world that feels desperate and broken. I am searching for patterns, for blips, for company on this long ride.
